Namchi is a charming town located in the southern part of Sikkim, a small state in northeastern India. The name “Namchi” translates to “top of the sky” in the local Bhutia language, which perfectly reflects its location, perched at an altitude of approximately 1,675 meters (5,495 feet) above sea level. Day 1: Arrival in Namchi

  • Morning:

    • Arrive at Bagdogra or New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP).
    • Meet with your "Salt and Sea Adventures" representative for transfer to Namchi (approximately 4–5 hours).
    • Enjoy the scenic drive through the hills and tea gardens.
  • Afternoon:

    • Check-in at the hotel in Namchi.
    • Relax and refresh after the journey.
  • Evening:

    • Leisure time to explore the local area or the hotel’s amenities.
    • Dinner at the hotel.

Day 2: Local Sightseeing in Namchi

  • Morning:
    • After breakfast, head to Samdruptse Hill (approx. 7 km from Namchi town).
      • Visit the Statue of Guru Padmasambhava, the largest statue in Sikkim.
      • Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
  • Afternoon:
    • Visit Chardham Temple (approx. 5 km from Namchi).
      • Explore replicas of four major pilgrimage sites in India: Badrinath, Dwarka, Jagannath, and Rameswaram.
      • Walk around the serene premises and enjoy the spiritual vibes.
  • Evening:
    • Visit Namchi Central Park for a peaceful walk.
    • Enjoy local food at a nearby restaurant or your hotel.

Day 3: Explore Nearby Attractions

  • Morning:

    • After breakfast, head to Tendong Hill (approx. 18 km).
      • Enjoy a short trek or take in the scenic beauty of the area.
      • Visit the Tendong Monastery on top, offering spectacular views of the surrounding valleys.
  • Afternoon:

    • Visit Solophok Hill, which offers another fantastic viewpoint of the region.
    • Option to visit nearby villages to experience Sikkimese culture and hospitality.
  • Evening:

    • Return to Namchi and relax at the hotel.
    • Enjoy a cultural performance or local Sikkimese dance, if available (arranged by "Salt and Sea Adventures").

Day 4: Day Trip to Ravangla or Pelling

  • Morning:

    • After breakfast, embark on a day trip to Ravangla or Pelling (both about 2-3 hours from Namchi).
    • Explore Ravangla’s Buddha Park or visit Pemayangtse Monastery in Pelling.
  • Afternoon:

    • Continue exploring the sights such as the Rimbi Waterfalls (Pelling) or take a nature walk in Ravangla’s serene environment.
  • Evening:

    • Return to Namchi.
    • Dinner at the hotel.

 

Day 5: Visit to Local Markets & Departure

  • Morning:

    • Visit the local Namchi Bazaar to shop for souvenirs such as local handicrafts, woolens, and organic products.
  • Afternoon:

    • Check-out from the hotel.
    • Transfer to Bagdogra or NJP for departure.
