Day 1: Arrival in Cairo

  1. Arrival:

    • Fly from India to Cairo International Airport (CAI). Most flights take around 6–8 hours with a layover in the Middle East (e.g., Dubai, Doha, or Abu Dhabi).
    • Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and rest after the journey.
  2. Evening Activity:

    • If you have time, visit the Khan el-Khalili Bazaar, Cairo's historic market, for local souvenirs, street food, and traditional Egyptian crafts.
    • Have dinner at a local Egyptian restaurant. Try dishes like koshari, grilled kofta, or stuffed pigeon.

Day 2: Pyramids and Sphinx Exploration

  1. Morning:

    • Start early and visit the Giza Pyramids Complex:

      • Great Pyramid of Khufu: Explore the largest and most famous pyramid.
      • Pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure: Walk around the area for stunning views.
      • Great Sphinx: Admire this iconic statue carved from a single block of limestone.
    • Optional:

Day 3: Cairo City Tour

  1. Morning:

    • Visit the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, home to thousands of artifacts, including the treasures of Tutankhamun and ancient mummies.
    • Head to Old Cairo to explore:
      • Hanging Church (Coptic Church).
      • Ben Ezra Synagogue.
      • Church of St. Sergius, where the Holy Family is believed to have taken refuge.
  2. Lunch:

    • Dine at a Nile-side restaurant for scenic views.
  3. Afternoon:

    • Explore Islamic Cairo, including:
      • Citadel of Saladin and Mohamed Ali Mosque (a.k.a. the Alabaster Mosque).
      • Sultan Hassan Mosque and Al-Rifa'i Mosque for stunning Islamic architecture.
  4. Evening:

    • Take a Nile dinner cruise, complete with traditional Egyptian music, belly dancing, and whirling dervish performances

Day 4: Day Trip to Alexandria (Optional)

  1. Morning:

    • Drive (2.5-3 hours) to Alexandria, Egypt’s Mediterranean city.
    • Visit:
      • Library of Alexandria (Bibliotheca Alexandrina).
      • Qaitbay Citadel, a fortress built on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria.
      • Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, an underground Roman burial site.
  2. Lunch:

    • Enjoy fresh seafood at a restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
  3. Afternoon:

    • Explore Montaza Palace and Gardens.
    • Walk along the Corniche for beautiful coastal views.
  4. Evening:

    • Return to Cairo and rest.

Day 5: Shopping and Departure

  1. Morning:

    • Spend your morning shopping or revisiting any favorite spots:
      • City Stars Mall for modern shopping.
      • Khan el-Khalili for traditional crafts and souvenirs.
  2. Afternoon:

    • Depending on your flight schedule, check out of your hotel and transfer to Cairo International Airport for your flight back to India.
