Best Time to Visit:

  • The best time to visit Gir is from December to March. During this period, the weather is cool and pleasant, with temperatures ranging between 10°C and 25°C, making it ideal for wildlife safaris. The winter months offer the best chance to spot Asiatic lions and other wildlife in the Gir National Park. Avoid visiting during the summer months (April to June), as the temperature can soar above 40°C, and animals tend to stay hidden in the cooler parts of the park.

     

How to Reach:

  • By Air: The nearest airport is Diu Airport (DIU), located about 100 km from Gir. It is connected to major cities like Mumbai and Ahmedabad. From Diu, you can hire a taxi to reach Gir.
  • By Train: Junagadh Railway Station (around 65 km from Gir) is the closest railway station with good connectivity to cities like Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Rajkot. From Junagadh, you can take a taxi or bus to Gir.
  • By Road: Gir is well-connected by road with cities like Ahmedabad, Rajkot, and Junagadh. You can drive or take a bus from these cities to reach Gir. The roads are well-maintained, making road travel convenient.
