Day 2: Miyajima Island Day Trip

  2. Mid-Morning:

    • Explore the Itsukushima Shrine and its beautiful red torii gate in the water, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
    • Take a walk along the island’s Omotesando Street filled with shops selling souvenirs and local snacks.
  3. Lunch:

    • Have lunch at Miyajima Anago no Mecca, famous for its grilled anago (conger eel) dishes.
  4. Afternoon:

    • Visit Mount Misen, accessible by cable car, for stunning panoramic views of the Seto Inland Sea.
    • Explore Daisho-in Temple, a peaceful Buddhist temple on the slopes of Mount Misen.

Day 3: Hiroshima Culture & History

  2. Mid-Morning:

    • Take a trip to Mazda Museum to see the history and innovation of Mazda, one of Hiroshima's key industries.
    • Explore the nearby Hiroshima Orizuru Tower, offering great views of the city and a chance to fold an origami crane.
  3. Lunch:

    • Enjoy a traditional bento (Japanese lunch box) at Okonomiyaki Village.
  4. Afternoon:

    • Visit Mitaki-dera, a historic temple surrounded by nature, offering a serene experience away from the city bustle.
    • Explore Hiroshima’s Hondori Street, a bustling shopping district.
  5. Dinner:

    • Dine at Kagura, a local izakaya known for its selection of seafood and traditional Japanese dishes.

Day 4: Guptkashi – Kedarnath – Badrinath

  • Morning:
    • Drive to Gaurikund (30 km, about 1.5 hours) and start the 16 km trek to Kedarnath (or use pony/palanquin services).
    • Reach Kedarnath and perform darshan.
  • Afternoon:
    • Return to Gaurikund via trek and drive towards Badrinath (about 7–8 hours).
    • If time allows, visit Badrinath Temple.
  • Evening:
    • Overnight stay in Badrinath.

Best Time to Visit:

  • The best time to visit Hiroshima is during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). In spring, you can witness the beautiful cherry blossoms, especially in late March to early April, while autumn brings vibrant fall foliage to the city. Both seasons offer mild weather, making it ideal for sightseeing and outdoor activities. These months are also less crowded compared to the hot and humid summer.

How to Reach:

  • By Air: Fly into Hiroshima Airport (HIJ), which is about 50 minutes from the city center by bus. Alternatively, you can fly into Osaka or Tokyo and take a Shinkansen to Hiroshima.
  • By Train: The Shinkansen (Bullet Train) from Osaka or Tokyo takes around 2.5 to 4 hours, depending on the type of train (Nozomi, Hikari, or Sakura).
  • By Ferry: If you’re traveling from nearby islands or regions, ferries are available, especially for trips to Miyajima Island.
  • By Bus: Long-distance buses from cities like Osaka and Kyoto are an economical option for reaching Hiroshima.
