Day 2: Historical Sites and Forts

  • Morning:

    • Visit Panhala Fort, situated about 20 km from Kolhapur. The fort offers stunning views of the surrounding valleys and has historical significance as the place where Shivaji Maharaj stayed during his youth.
  • Afternoon:

    • Head to Binkhambi Ganesh Mandir, a unique temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha with a large idol inside.
    • Visit New Palace, the residence of the Kolhapur royal family, known for its grandeur and the Maharaja's Museum displaying royal artifacts.
  • Evening:

    • Return to Kolhapur city and relax at Jyotiba Temple, situated on the Jyotiba Hill. The temple offers a calm and peaceful atmosphere, and the panoramic views of the surrounding region are beautiful.

Day 3: Nature and Scenic Exploration

  • Morning:

    • Visit the Radhanagari Wildlife Sanctuary located around 45 km from Kolhapur. The sanctuary is home to various species of flora and fauna, offering trekking and birdwatching opportunities.
  • Afternoon:

    • If you are interested in further exploring nature, head to Siddhagiri Museum, also known as Siddhagiri Gramjivan Museum, which showcases rural life and traditional artifacts.
  • Evening:

    • End the day with a peaceful visit to Maharaja's Palace Gardens, where you can relax and enjoy the beauty of the landscaped gardens.
