Days Plan

Day 1: Arrival and Initial Safari

  • Morning:

    • Arrive at Chandrapur, the nearest town to Tadoba National Park. You can travel by train, bus, or private car from major cities like Nagpur (approximately 2.5 hours away by road).
    • Check into your safari lodge or resort near the park.
  • Afternoon:

    • After lunch, head for your first safari. Tadoba has several safari zones, with Moharli Gate being the most popular. The afternoon safari provides a good chance to spot tigers, along with other wildlife like wild boars, leopards, and deer.
  • Evening:

    • Return to your resort for a relaxing evening. Enjoy a traditional meal and share your safari experiences with fellow travelers.

Day 2: Full-Day Safari and Exploration

  • Early Morning:

    • Start early for a morning safari, which is considered the best time for animal sightings, especially tigers. During this time, wildlife is most active, and the chances of spotting tigers are higher.
    • Enjoy the beautiful Tadoba Lake and its surrounding habitats, where you might spot crocodiles, cormorants, and other birds.
  • Midday:

    • Return to your accommodation for lunch and relax for a bit.
    • You can opt for a nature walk or visit the nearby tribal villages to learn about local culture and conservation efforts.
  • Afternoon Safari:

    • Head back for the afternoon safari. Keep your cameras ready as the park is full of amazing wildlife and birds. This safari will also take you through various dense forest areas and open grasslands.
  • Evening:

    • After a thrilling safari, return to the lodge. Enjoy dinner, and if you're interested, attend a nature talk or presentation on the park’s wildlife and conservation initiatives.

Day 3: Last Safari and Departure

  • Morning:

    • Take your final safari in Tadoba. Explore a different zone of the park for a fresh experience and to maximize your wildlife sightings. This might include exploring Tadoba's Andhari Range or other wildlife zones.
  • Late Morning:

    • After the safari, enjoy breakfast at your accommodation.
    • If time permits, take a quick walk around the park’s entry gate or visit nearby places of interest, such as the Kalu Waterfall or the Brahmapuri Lake.
  • Afternoon:

    • Depart for Chandrapur or Nagpur for your onward journey.

Best Time to Visit:

  • Winter (October to February):
    This is the best time to visit Tadoba. The weather is cooler, and wildlife sightings are more frequent. Early mornings and evenings are especially enjoyable for safaris.

  • Summer (March to June):
    Summer is another good time to visit Tadoba, especially in May and June when animals are often found near water sources. However, the heat can be intense, so early morning safaris are recommended.

How to Reach:

  • By Air:
    The nearest airport to Tadoba is Nagpur Airport (NAI), about 142 km away. From Nagpur, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Tadoba.

  • By Train:
    Chandrapur Railway Station is the nearest major railway station to Tadoba, located about 40 km from the park. You can take a taxi or a bus from the station to the park.

  • By Road:
    Tadoba is well-connected by road from nearby cities. You can drive from Nagpur, Chandrapur, or Pune (approximately 12-14 hours from Pune). The park is also accessible from Bhandara and Gondia.
