Days Plan

Day 1: Arrival and Journey to Barkot

  • Arrival at Dehradun (Airport/Railway Station).
  • Meet the Salt and Sea Adventures team for a comfortable drive to Barkot (180 km, ~7 hours).
  • Stop for lunch at Chotiwala Restaurant, Rishikesh.
  • Check-in at the Barkot campsite or hotel.
  • Evening at leisure with a welcome dinner.

Day 2: Trek to Yamunotri

  • Early breakfast at the campsite.
  • Drive to Janki Chatti (36 km, ~1.5 hours).
  • Start the 6 km trek to Yamunotri. Ponies/palkis are available on request.
  • Visit Yamunotri Temple and take a dip in Surya Kund.
  • Packed lunch provided by Salt and Sea Adventures.
  • Trek back to Janki Chatti and return to Barkot for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Departure

  • Breakfast at the campsite.
  • Drive back to Dehradun (~7 hours).
  • Drop-off at Dehradun Airport/Railway Station.
  • Stop for lunch at Ellora's Melting Moments, Dehradun, for local delicacies.

    • 2 passport size photos
    • Adult – Original + photocopy of any of the ID proof i.e. Aadhar Card / Driving Licence /  Voters       ID / Passport
    • Child – Original + photocopy of any of the ID proof i.e. Aadhar Card / School ID / Passport
    • Infant – Aadhar Card / Birth certificate
    • NRI / Foreign nationals – Mandatory Passport + Valid Indian visa / OCI card / PIO card
    • Above mentioned ID proof is mandatory at the time of booking and carry the same ID proof on         tour as well

Best Time to Visit:

  • The best time to visit Yamunotri is from April to June and September to November. Summers offer pleasant weather, while post-monsoon months are lush and refreshing. Avoid July to August due to heavy rains and landslides, and December to March when the temple is closed due to snowfall and harsh winter conditions.

     

How to Reach:

  • By Air: The nearest airport to theYamunotri is Jolly Grant Airport (Dehradun) for reaching Yamunotri . 
  • By Train: The nearest railway stations are Haridwar or Rishikesh, both well-connected by rail from major cities.
  • By Road: Roads leading to the Chardham temples are well-developed, but the terrain is challenging due to the mountainous region.
